Evolution is the process of increasing the grade of a monster. All monsters begin with their default star rating (grade), and through the process of evolution, their star rating and stats can be increased. The higher the grade of a monster, the higher its stats. Regardless of a monster's initial (default) star rating, it is possible to evolve any monster into a 6-star monster, which is the maximum grade possible.
To evolve a monster, use the Power-up Circle building. The evolve button is next to the power up button, make sure you select it.
Cost[]
In order to evolve a monster, one must sacrifice other monsters. Those other monsters, sometimes called fodder or materials, disappear forever. (There is also a mana cost for this process.) The basic formula is that to evolve a monster from one grade to the next, you need to sacrifice a grade's number of monsters, of the same grade. For example, to evolve your 2★ Howl up one grade, you'd need to sacrifice two 2★ material monsters. To evolve your 3★ Inugami up one grade, you'd need to sacrifice three 3★ fodder monsters. For ease of use, it is possible to mix and match lower grade material monsters in this process. For example, each 3★ fodder monster is worth 6 points, and to evolve your 3★ Inugami, you need to sacrifice 18 points worth of fodder monsters. Not coincidentally, 6 = 3! and 18 = 3*3!. You could get those 18 points, for example, by sacrificing two 3★ monsters (2*6=12pts) plus six 1★ monsters (6*1=6pts).
Here's a table.
| Points gained from material monsters | |||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Grade | 1 | 2 | 6 | 24 | 120 |
| ★ | ★★ | ★★★ | ★★★★ | ★★★★★ | |
| Evolving monster | Number of material monsters to be sacrificed | ||||
| 1★ to 2★★ | 1 | ||||
| 2★★ to 3★★★ | 4 | 2 | |||
| 3★★★ to 4★★★★ | 18 | 9 | 3 | ||
| 4★★★★ to 5★★★★★ | 96 | 48 | 16 | 4 | |
| 5★★★★★ to 6★★★★★★ | 600 | 300 | 100 | 25 | 5 |
Results[]
After an evolution completes, awakened status and skill level progress remain the same. The monster also remains the same level that it was originally, however now its maximum level rises according to its new grade, so you will be able to level it up another five levels.
Rewards[]
The player will get rewards upon evolving a monster to 5★ and 6★ for the very first time ever, and also there is a smaller reward every time the player evolves a monster to 6★.
Notes[]
- Using the same family monster (any attribute) as material during evolution will also level up a skill level of the evolving monster, the same way it does when powering-up instead of evolving. Therefore, if you want to do both evolution and raise skills, it is possible to save resources by using family monsters as fodder material.
- If the fodder monster that you sacrifice during evolution has some equipped runes on it, those runes will be destroyed forever along with the fodder monster. (Any runes on the monster you are evolving remain unaffected.)
- The level of the sacrificed monsters does not matter, unless you have legacy rainbowmon from the ancient olden days back when it was possible to evolve rainbowmon. Those are worth double points. After version 8.0.0, it is no longer necessary (or possible) to evolve rainbowmon: they now come ready to use. Level and Grade are pretty much completely separate characteristics now.
